Educator Biography
Karly Frigenti joined Avenues: The World School in 2023 as an Upper Division science teacher. With a decade of experience working in both public and charter schools in Manhattan and the Bronx, Karly brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role.
While pursuing her B.A. in Psychology at Hunter College, Karly was a P.S. 59: Beekman Hill International School assistant teacher. This experience sparked her fascination with education, culture, and language. Driven by a desire to positively impact the lives of diverse learners, Karly continued her education, earning an MSEd in Adolescent Special Education from Hunter College, and began working at a New Visions charter school in the Bronx. Her position as a generalist educator allowed her to teach a range of disciplines (psychology, mathematics, social, physical, and life sciences courses) and pursue advanced learning. She developed intervention courses for high-needs students and collaborated on cross-content student-led projects. In response to the high number of English language learners, she returned to school for her TESOL masters extension for Multilingual Learners from The City College of New York, enhancing her ability to cater to the needs of students from various linguistic and learning backgrounds. During her years at New Visions, she assumed the Lead Teacher of Special Education and Multilingual Learners role.
The U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board recognized Karly's commitment to global education with a 2022 Fulbright TGC (Teachers for Global Classrooms) award. The experience allowed her to deepen her understanding of education systems worldwide and innovate her teaching approach.
